Today, I’m grateful for second chances.
A Time for Gratitude was my attempt at posting a single thing that I’m grateful for each day in an attempt to open my mind (and possibly the minds of others) to all the good that is out there in life.
The plan was every day for 365 days.
I made it to day 18, and then freakin’ forgot.
So A Time for Gratitude is over… and Operation: Gratitude begins today.
Can you guess what Operation: Gratitude is?
It’s me posting a single thing that I’m grateful for, every day, for 365 days.
I’m still breathing, so I’m not quitting.
So today, I’m grateful for second chances.

I always find your posts on gratitude heartwarming and most of the time, I see myself thanking my Lord for the blessings he is giving me. After giving it much thought, Lyman, I guess I have follow your footsteps in writing it whether online or offline. I makes me better seeing it every day, and when there are dark days it is nice to know that you can always look forward to a brighter day.
Thanks for reading, Magdalene.
I’d highly recommend this practice, whether you do it publicly or privately. The cool thing is that you don’t have to do it every day. From what I’ve read, just writing down 5 things each week is enough to boost your mood – I first learned that one from Richard Wiseman’s book “59 Seconds”. But if you want to do it every day, I say go for it!

I look forward to your blog now because it is like this little daily gratitude alarm clock that goes off and reminds me it is time to pause and think about things I have to be thankful for. My day brightens immediately. I may hit the snooze button or turn it off completely later on and get back into selfish mode but the next day I get a pleasant reminder again!
Thank you, honey, for all of your support, and for being my alarm clock in lots of things too!
I love your wife. She has always seemed like such a lovely lady.
Lyman, a friend of mine and I do “idonethis.com” and,, since they send an email every day to find out what you have done, I find it very helpful. My friend puts her gratitude list on her email as well. I don’t as much, but sometimes do.
Sometimes I tend to conflate what I *do* with who I am / how I feel. Anyway, maybe it’s something that would be useful to you.
Thanks, Jacq… apparently I was already signed up for idonethis.com and never used it! It does look familiar. I set up the reminders, and we’ll see how it goes.
And yes, your impression is correct. Tracy is a lovely lady.
Awwwww, what a nice thing to read! Thank you Jacq, for the kind words! And Lyman,
